The Glacier
Explorer Canoe Trip
Join us on
the Alaska Railroad for a beautiful
ride into the
Placer Valley. A train will drop you off in a pristine wilderness
where a spectacular lake and glacier await your discovery. No roads
lead to Spencer Lake, so be prepared for a true Alaskan experience.
We start the tour with a hearty, deli style lunch on the banks of the ice
berg filled lake, The incredible surroundings provide intoxicating
views of the massive glacier and ice wall. |
| After lunch, your
guide will prepare you for an exploration of the lake. Paddle these
sleek and elegant boats up to the ice face for a close up view of ice caves
and crevasses. The boats are modern designs of Native Alaskan dugout
canoes, which provide for a comfortable and safe way to navigate the chilly
waters. We will stop on the shore near the ice face and hike up to
the glacier. From here you will be able to look over miles and miles
of ice. Learn glaciology as you gaze upon the kettles and moulans.
This trip has astounding views and an old world experience you can get
nowhere else in Alaska.
This trip is four
hours and is appropriate for all ages. All gear is provided for a
safge comfortable trip. Those not wishing to exert themselves may
find our Spencer Rafting trip more appropriate. |
